‧世界地球日英文由來
世界地球日源自 1969 年 1 月的一起嚴重油污事故，使得人們開始關注環境議題。當時，威斯康辛州的參議員蓋洛德·尼爾森和青年激進主義者丹尼斯·海斯一起組織了校園活動，並於 1970 年 4 月 22 日宣布了第一屆世界地球日，以引起公眾對環保的關注。
World Earth Day originated from a severe oil pollution incident in January 1969, which led people to start paying attention to environmental issues. At that time, Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin and the young activist Denis Hayes organized campus activities and declared the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, to raise public awareness of environmental protection.
